Nozomi Lyn, a Los Angeles-based artist, is a Film Composer, Singer-Songwriter, Multi - instrumentalist, and Producer of Japanese and Chinese descent. Originally hailing from Tokyo, Japan, she possesses a strong foundation in classical piano and is proficient in playing the guitar and ukulele. Nozomi has Music Assisted Film and Musical Composer Cecilia Lin on a forthcoming broadway musical “Fusong", which had an industry reading at New 42 Studios in New York City. In May 2024, Nozomi was one of the presenters at Music and the Moving Image Conference in New York City hosted by NYU.
Growing up, moving from Japan to China, then Canada, and finally the United States, her compositions reflect a diverse fusion of cultural influences. Nozomi possesses a wealth of experience in composing for a wide range of visual media, including short films, animation, and documentaries. Her expertise extends to seamlessly merging the realms of traditional orchestral instruments, synth/electronic sounds, and multi-cultural instruments in her compositions. Whether working exclusively with orchestral instruments or crafting music solely from synth/electronic elements and cultural instruments, she exhibits a versatile command over her craft. Additionally, she has the ability to integrate her own vocals into her scores, adding a distinctive dimension to her musical storytelling. She has recorded her orchestral compositions with Budapest Symphony Orchestra. In June 2024, “One Bullet, On A Blade”, a short film Nozomi scored the music for won Best Animation Short Film AFA Anatolian Film Award and Best Student Short Film AFA Anatolian Film Awards.
She embarked on her songwriting journey at the age of 11, and by the age of 14, she had already established herself as both a performer and a recording artist. In 2016, she introduced her debut single, 'Future is Now,' followed by her debut EP 'WEST COAST' in the summer of 2018. In the year 2020, Nozomi recorded with Grammy-nominated producer and engineer Joseph Magee (Miley Cyrus, Whitney Houston, Pitch Perfect soundtrack). Her singles ‘3 am’, 'things i never said', 'komorebi', and 'dancing to the blues' are four of the songs she recorded at Joseph Magee’s studio in Nashville, Tennessee. Through beginning of 2023 till June 2024, she was a composer and songwriter with Universal Music Publishing Group China.
In addition to her roles as a composer, recording artist, and performer, Nozomi holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Business from New York University. Recently, she graduated with Master of Music in Screen Scoring at NYU. She was mentored by Mark Suozzo, Ariel Marx, Jamie Lawrence, and Chris Hajian.
Nozomi has been invited to sing an a capella solo of the Canadian National Anthem for the BC Lions Football Game at the BC Place Stadium in 2017. She has also toured in China and performed at various venues around Vancouver, BC.
